How this Korean pop song turns coaches into millionaires
One of my favorite Korean pop songs is called “Talk That Talk” by TWICE.
And in it, lies one of the secrets to consistently attracting leads with your organic content:
“Tell me what you want, tell me what you need”
Now those two sentences might look like they’re the same thing.
But that’s far from the truth.
Because every market has:
What they want to achieve (the sexy stuff)
What they need to achieve that outcome (the unsexy stuff)
Those are often two very different things.
In weight loss, almost everyone wants a 6 pack.
But what they need is to stop being a fat fuck and eating doritos (btw Doritos are by far my favorite snack, so no hate if this hit you hard, it hit me hard too :( )
Unfortunately...
People won’t buy from you if you tell them what they NEED.
You have to sell them what they want and give them what they need.
The balance is in making sure this doesn’t come across as a bait and switch.
And before I start getting Karens in my DMs about this...
This is NOT unethical.
This is the unfortunate truth of the human condition.
You can’t sell people on the fact they have to go to the gym 5 days per week and eat clean.
Or if you do, you have to make it really sexy.
(This is where Solution Slinging + good messaging comes in).
This is where I see a lotttt of people unconsciously mess up.
Especially people who are really good at what they do and don’t have a marketing background.
They try sell people on what they need (ie. sending hundreds of cold DMs, spending a lot of time in the gym, etc).
And not on what they want (ie. getting a consistent flow of clients, having other people making comments on how they look so good now, etc).
Once you know what your market wants.
And you know what it needs.
You can market the first.
And keep the other behind the paywall.
